At the end of 2022, motivated by the current situation, we began planning our next mission to Ukraine. Using previous contacts, we identified the most needed topics. There is a need to transport selected medical supplies there and then transport people who did not have a chance for a standard evacuation back. Disabled, injured and infirm people with their loved ones.
After several weeks of intensive preparations for everything from securing equipment, crews, medical supplies, protective equipment for crews and equipment, etc., we set off with three ambulances for Ukraine in December.
The original plan was to reach Kiev, hand over medical supplies there, load the evacuated people and set off back. However, the situation on the ground led us directly to the center of the heaviest fighting at the time, the city of Bakhmut.
The experiences directly from the front and the journey to it are difficult to describe and, even with the passage of time, evoke exceptionally strong feelings in us. Hopefully, the accompanying materials will at least partially explain the situation in Ukraine to you.
